In charge for a new era.

    The eEconic

In charge for a new era.

Cities are growing. The demands placed on mobility, logistics, the environment and quality of life are also growing. Our answer to this is a commercial vehicle that's up to the challenge. A vehicle that's powerful, efficient and that can improve safety for all road users. A vehicle that, with locally reduced CO₂ emissions and quiet drive, also effectively combats the rising levels of pollution seen in so many urban areas. The eEconic with a purely battery-electric drive.

    Highlights

The eEconic – made for urban use.

    Improved range

Urban refuse collectors cover an average of 100 km a day. With its range of up to 100/150 km 1, the eEconic is perfectly equipped for single-shift operation.

    Low noise levels

For quieter towns and cities: the eEconic's drive system is noticeably quieter than that of waste disposal vehicles with combustion engines. Good news for local residents: after all, the crews start work early in the morning. More peace and quiet in the cab is beneficial to the crews as well.

    Fast charging

At night, the eEconic has all the time in the world to charge. But sometimes things have to be done quickly. That’s why the battery charges from 20% to 80% in around 75 minutes.2 So the eEconic can get out of the depot to where it really wants to be: on the road.

    Safe operation

Avoid accidents at work wherever possible: your employees climb in and out of their vehicles hundreds of times a day and often in dense traffic. Every aspect of the eEconic has been thought out to the last detail to take your workers' needs into account.

Top performance on roads and alleys
    Range

Top performance on roads and in alleys.

The eEconic is tailored to the requirements of the waste management industry: its range of up to 100/150 km1 is enough to cover most urban journeys. Energy recovery during braking increases efficiency, making it ideal for stop-and-go driving in urban areas. Together with the ePowertrain electric drive with a maximum output of 400 kW, this gives you great advantages in terms of both efficiency and performance. So it keeps your crews nice and safe – and economical.

Top performance on roads and in alleys.

    ePowertrain drive technology

    • Powerful eAxle with two integrated electric motors and two-speed transmission
    • Max. motor output of 400 kW
    • Max. speed of 89 km/h
    • Continuous acceleration and smooth driving off in stop-and-go traffic
    • Quiet operation for night-time use
    ePowertrain drive system technology
    Battery technology

    Battery technology

    • Three battery packs
    • Range of up to 100/150 km1 sufficient for most typical waste disposal trips
    • Max. charging capacity of 160 kW
    • Installed battery capacity of 336 kWh2
    • Charging time of approx. 75 min. (20–80% under optimal conditions)3

    Side underride guard

The batteries are well-protected in the event of side-on collisions: the standard underride guard with integrated radar sensors for Sideguard Assist improves crash safety.

    Electric power take-off

    Electric power take-off

The eWorX electric power take-off (ePto) made by ZF makes it even easier for bodybuilders to equip the eEconic with their bodies.

    • Continuous output of 33 kW
    • Peak output of 58 kW (60 s)
    • Rated speed of 2,000 rpm
    • Max. speed of 4,000 rpm
    • Direction of rotation: Anticlockwise (when looking down onto the motor shaft)

1 The stated range is preliminary and was determined using an internal simulation tool assuming optimum conditions with, among other things, three new, preconditioned battery packs in a partially laden state in inner-city refuse collection operations (VECTO Municipal Cycle up to 100 km) or in mixed refuse collection operations (combined VECTO Municipal Cycle, VECTO Regional Delivery and VECTO Urban Delivery Cycle up to 150 km) at an ambient temperature of 20°C and may deviate from the values determined in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/2400. Among other things, the actual range is greatly affected by driving characteristics, deployment profile and body type.

2 Rated capacity of a new battery based on internally defined conditions. This can vary depending on the application and ambient conditions. The eEconic can be charged with up to 160 kW: the three battery packs need a little longer than one hour to charge from 20 to 80%. This period is based on internally determined, empirical values tested under optimum conditions, such as at a standard 400 A DC rapid charging station and at an ambient temperature of 20°C.

    The road in view
    Safety

A watchful eye on the road.

Good news for safety. The eEconic fosters anticipatory and careful driving with its DirectVision cab (panoramic windows for a clear view). A further feature that improves the view

    • is the glazed folding door that reaches down to the ground on the co-driver's side for a clear view of pavements.
    • Other components include the mirror system with an extended field of vision that includes working areas, blind spots and
    • the blind spot camera system.

At eye level with the traffic.

The low seating position in the eEconic brings the driver to eye level with other road users. This allows them to communicate directly with the driver through eye contact. A vital plus point. What's more, the driver sees more and can react better.

Occupational health and safety at every turn.

The eEconic's low entry is great news for your vehicle crew. Workers that have to climb in and out of the cab hundreds of times each day to empty rubbish bins will be delighted about the excellent ergonomics and improved safety. And healthy backs, healthy joints and fewer occupational accidents also mean fewer absences.

    • Low entry with just two steps
    • Entry and exit through the folding door on the side of the road furthest away from the traffic
    • Shock-absorbing, full air suspension and raising and lowering functions on both axles

    Active Brake Assist 5

    Active Brake Assist 5

Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA 5) supports eEconic drivers in critical situations2 by detecting obstacles in the vehicle's path and responding appropriately – starting with issuing clear warning signals and up to carrying out automatic full-stop braking. In the urban speed range of up to 50 km/h, it can also detect pedestrians moving in front of the vehicle. This feature is fitted as standard in all new eEconic models.

    Lane Keeping Assist

If there is a risk of the vehicle unintentionally leaving its lane, Lane Keeping Assist can alert the driver. For precise and safe driving.

    Lane Keeping Assist

The eEconic can switch on its lights automatically and set the windscreen wipers correctly thanks to its array of sensors. This is a great help.

    Work lamps1

The eEconic can optionally be equipped with work lamps to improve safety when reversing and manoeuvring. They illuminate the area around the body and the rear manoeuvring area.

    Work lamps
    Speed limiting when reversing

    Speed limiting when reversing1

The speed limiter reduces the speed to max. 9 km/h when reversing. This helps to reduce accidents when manoeuvring.

    Automatically activated hazard warning lights1

When stopping and starting on waste-collection jobs, the hazard warning lights signal to other road users: attention! Operatives at work. The eEconic's hazard warning lights can also switch on and off automatically every time the vehicle stops, if so desired.

    Automatically activated hazard warning lights

    1 Special equipment.

2 Within the system limits or within physical limits, the system can react to stationary and moving objects or moving pedestrians with partial braking or emergency full-stop braking. In these traffic situations, the driver still remains fully responsible for driving the vehicle safely.
